That would be ideal. Assuming it takes about a month to upload a page…it’ll probably be longer than a decade. Assuming that it’ll actually end and not be this huge cliffhanger once the war starts. If there is even a war.

  • 06/12/2016 at 1:57am

How to link Ghost Zone, Underworld & Him, Aku’s area that doesn’t need to die as a normal person?

  • Glyphayel

    06/12/2016 at 12:02am

I swear, these references are getting more and more random. I mean I don’t usually mind cameos, but they’re soooooooo much funnier when they make sense depending on where they’re placed.

Also, if Chi needs to go through the Ghost Zone, then there’s a chance that we might see Dark Dan again, since he can just create portals at will to come in and out of it.
And that is TOTALLY a character I’m lookin’ forward to see again.

Then you should want less Chi and more plot.

      • athdlg

        06/11/2016 at 8:08pm

This is plot. Not the entire thing of course, but this page specifically is doing a job of explanation. As for the next page…hm….I feel like it’s going to be some fetish on Chi’s appetite or some example of her abilities that make her OP in the face of all these hunters.

I’m guess that that big hunk of meat is something like Joint of Dragon, if not, that ham looks sort of spoiled.

Actually quite a bit of the food looks less than healthful. Hopefully that is green dye/spinach on that steamed bun behind the meat, but it sure resembles mold.

  • Lolwutpear_126

    06/10/2016 at 2:17pm

How could Demo hate DBZ? It’s a gazillion times better than much of the anime trash that is being produced nowadays.

  • Santessen

    06/10/2016 at 11:30am

    Funny thought.

I wonder if part of why demo hated watching DBZ so much is that, given the shape his flame hair takes, Chi started calling him Vegeta. Chi seems like the kind of person to do something like that.

    • Glyphayel

      06/12/2016 at 12:19am

Considering Vegeta’s power and character development in the DBZ show (dude goes from brutal serial killer to married sorta good guy with wife, kids, and wiling to sacrifice his life to save a planet he previously wanted to destroy), I don’t see why Demo would find being called Vegeta a bad thing.
Unless Chi just used that to call him shorty, but still.

    • Santessen

      06/12/2016 at 3:27am

Or if they actually went on and saw Dragonball GT. Then it might be a not-so subtle jab at how the great and powerful warrior wound up totally dominated by a young lady (in Vegeta’s case, his daughter)

  • Shradow

    06/10/2016 at 8:30am

With all these ghost bounty hunters around, it begs the question: Where’s Dark Danny? Is he still just chilling at Castle Grimskull?

Also, I’m not sure I feel like we’ve spent so much time on Chi as we really have, in terms of the comic. Maybe it’s just the issue of these sort of things being updated page at a time, but if this were in a full comic book and you read it all at once maybe her sections wouldn’t seem so long. But I haven’t counted the pages or anything to be sure.

    • Grids

      06/10/2016 at 9:11am

Hey good question. If Danny is wanted in Aku’s sanctum and is implied as the target all these bounty hunters are seeking, that means he’d have to have caused trouble there.
In order to do that and then be home in time to pork Mandy again he’d have to go right through the ghost zone and therefore breach Walker’s precious barrier.
I DOUBT Walker would give him clearance. Therefore either this big bad barrier has a regularly exploitable back door or, more likely, this retcon to the realm layout is total rubbish!

      • Shradow

        06/10/2016 at 10:57am

The explanation of the realms here is just something I find odd, a bit more explanation could help but it’s just different and weird to me right now.

Though Dark Danny is the last guy I think would worry about clearance, and is probably strong enough to make his own way if he needs to. I’m reminded of how Majin Buu screamed his way out of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, which coincidentally enough this chapter mentions.

        • Shradow

          06/10/2016 at 10:58am

If Chi does something like that to get through the barrier, then the reference in this chapter is actually pretty clever.

          • Grids

            06/10/2016 at 11:51am

Which would mean any ghostly denizen who can Wail could break it. Guess Walker oughta invest a bit more in home security!

          • silvercover

            06/11/2016 at 8:11am

considering how the original show already had a lot of ghosts breaking through the ghost zone barrier/border to the real world, its not something that is easily patched up. probably more than ghost wail could break it or there’s some hole in the barrier.

    • 06/10/2016 at 12:41pm

I hope NEK does give some information about the barrier itself, as it is really weird to be there. Did Walker put it up there? And is is a no one enters, no one leaves concept? Because that is kinda Hunson’s thing with the Nightosphere.

If Ghost Zone inhabitants could freely enter and leave I could accept that, as it would be kinda how Walker would handle such things. But knowing NEK we’ll probably be left hanging with these questions after Chi manages to break through.

Messed up my comment. Here’s what I meant to say. How long will we waste on Chi? I mean, at the rate this is going, with all this Chi focus, will the comic continue like this for another two chapters focusing on Chi? That would take like, three years without getting anywhere. Use some of Grids ideas that can further the comic instead of hinder it, NEK. Because this comic isn’t making any sense anymore. The whole concept of the realms and how they were set up completely changed because of this page. Consistency here is nonexistent. I would generally like to hear from you NEK, please respond.

So this has become a “let’s reference random shows once a page”.

Hyperbolic also means to employ a great deal of exaggeration or needless flourish. Sounds like Chi all the way.

    • Grids

      06/10/2016 at 12:35am

Also her drawing is inconsistent with how we saw the realms presented at the start of the very chapter Chi debuted in. They were depicted as separate entities with no juxtaposition to one another.
Are they now like layers in Dante’s hell and this is the first mention of it because the plot finally remembered to make use of it??

      • VIRTU

        06/10/2016 at 1:48am

hello Mr.Grids i had some more questions regarding you version of grim tales
        1. What other humans did Mandy save besides Helga?
        2. Would we have seen the return of Halloweentown ?
        3. Any characters or shows you wanted to include but didn’t get the final cut?
        4. Do Other Planets Know of earths destruction?
        5. Did you ever plan to include Aku in grim tales?

        • Grids

          06/10/2016 at 2:11am

          1. Some saved humans may not have been fully human anymore. With that in mind you’ve already met one of those refugees in previous chapters.
          2. Only in a cameo at best. Jack Skellington’s antics weren’t essential to the plot going forward. Then again, neither is Rook Blonko :/
          3. Oh sure lots. Wanted to expand on Raven’s role a bit more, including her father. There were characters from El Tigre planned, more focus on Spawn’s universe and a few original works to join the mix.
          4. Most likely, but it’d have no bearing on the story.
          5. He’d have shown up eventually.

Fun fact – back in the days of me on the team, and DMajorboss, Seiryuga and BeeAre, each comic was given a month focus. So we’re a little over a week into June now. If June was GT month, there’d only be updates and work done on GT. Then next month might belong to SB, which was being worked on by both DMajor and BeeAre and big things were intially planned. Anyway, Chi came up at one stage as a potential inclusion.
BeeAre and I intervened. We veto’d her inclusion cos the focus at the time was Mimi alone and it seemed too late to add a character like that out of the blue.
Then NEK got the job after my absence and guess who happened to turn up? This is indicative of the different approaches editors take to the comic, and perhaps how seriously (or lack thereof) it’s being treated today.
Good thing BeeAre’s PPGD is still alive.

How Was trigon going to be involved ?
Who was Grim Jr.’s Father going to be ?
Did mandy become mayor of megaville in the past?
How Does One Become A writer for Bleedman?
In your orignial plan were there going to be differt realms like the city of aku and the ghost zone or was tmandy suppost to the be the ruller of all the underworld?
is Him the devil or just a demon?
sorry for all the questions lol

          • Grids

            06/10/2016 at 5:51am

My my, so many questions. Don’t worry, I enjoy answering and expanding on what was going to be…
            1. As you know, Trigon is a demon. Him is responsible for his daughter’s death. This would have put the two at odds if they were to clash at some point down the line.
            2. Like with Blossom, I prefer to see if NEK will address these parentage issues first. Since the guy refuses to talk to me, has called BeeAre (the best dude to ever work for Bleed) an “asshole” for no reason and generally thinks himself above everyone else, he will no doubt do things different and when that day comes, I will disclose the original plan.
            3. No, not Megaville. And by the time Megaville found itself at war Mandy was already Grim’s bride.
            4. I got my spot as an editor after answering a Show of Interest announcement Bleed made in 2006. I edited a test script and he liked mine best. I then became editor for PPGD when he Dex/Mandark fight began, but soon moved to the brand new Grim Tales comic. That’s where it allllll began. As for the others they probably had their own way.
            5. There wasn’t a major realm split like in the comics now and we can see why – already NEK is forgetting how the realms work by comic up with this wall nonsense. Instead it was a swath of territories. It was less Rick and Morty, more Game of Thrones.
            6. Him is a demon, like Trigon, not a devil. Devil would be an offensive word to someone like him – devil carries certain connotations of savagery and barbarism. We also previously saw the cutesy little Satan himself in the early goings, having some fun with Billy. So no, Him and the devil are NOT synonymous.

          • Aros001

            06/10/2016 at 2:49pm

Huh. These are some pretty interesting ideas. While I do still like Grim Tales (not saying it doesn’t have problems) I do hope other people see these ideas because, not sure if you knew about this or not, but there surprisingly enough is a fanfiction section dedicated to Grim Tales. One author in particular that I read, Akumakami64, has done some pretty inventive stories using these characters ( and I’m sure a lot of other stories could be made using ideas along these lines.
Which actually does lead in to my question: how are the Big Five locations in the Underworld supposed to work? You were saying less Rick and Morty and more Game of Thrones, so does that mean there are borders o at least lines between them? Or am I just misunderstanding what you meant? And please, this isn’t me trying to be a jerk. I am genuinely curious as to how the realms were supposed to exist in relation to each other.

          • Grids

            06/11/2016 at 9:39am

            Ooh boy let’s see…
            1. There’s plenty of possibilities here since DC was confirmed to share a universe with the PPG (further confirmed with this unnecessary PPG16/Teen Titans Go crossover coming soon, ugh) and with all the CN and Nick shows out there, your guess is as good as mine!
            2. If Gaz had to choose between Mandy or staying on earth with her Game Slave, she’d pick Earth.
            3. Coop’s gone.
            4. Conquering the world wasn’t his aim – it was to smash to pieces the legacy the PPG was trying to build. He wanted them to fail at their life goal. When Blossom did what she did that led to Mimi’s birth, it slowed Him down, but he ultimately quashed their dreams. Now, Mimi is all that’s left of that ambition they once held. And Him doesn’t really care anymore. He’s an impulsive guy – what thrilled and excited him back then is old news now.
            5. Hmm, I came up with the term ‘Zoner’ to best describe what Mimi was meant to be and WHY she was incapacitated by her power but that word wouldn’t be familiar to those who don’t read my other work. Let’s just say Mimi’s power was much more far-reaching with the ability to manipulate the very reality around her. Her power was rare, treasured and feared. It would have been merciful to simply call it telekinesis, since her childish mind wouldn’t be able to comprehend the sheer vastness of her power. Perhaps they did so in order to protect Miss Mimi from anti-supers, or perhaps even from her own father!
            6. Hadn’t planned that out back then. If I got the job back, however, then yes.
            7. Again, who knows?
            8. Despite heaven being the ‘good’ side, they’ve grown rather self-serving of late. Heaven’s always been on edge about humanity – after all, they sent a special dude down to Earth once and he ended up nailed to a cross. Heavenly warriors are no strangers to battle but their first goal is self-preservation. Not just humans have an afterlife, besides. With portals to the underworld opening and in some cases remaining open during Him’s crusade, the barriers between worlds were breaking down. Heaven would seal its borders and eventually do the same for all of Earth at the conclusion of the war.
I would have wanted heaven to have just as many dubious qualities as underworld counterparts. It’s like a political round table – everyone has an agenda that puts themselves first.

    • Aros001

      06/10/2016 at 1:11am

I think it’s pretty clear that they’re still in the Underworld. I think most of the confusion comes from having the City of Aku be a location in the Underworld, given that it was a future city populated with a lot of aliens instead of another dimension like the Ghost Zone or Nightosphere. Honestly the cameos are not bugging me as much as they seem to be bugging everyone else. As long as they stay in the background and the focus stays on the story relevant characters they’re pretty easy to ignore or just assume they’re in the Underworld because they’re dead.

      • 06/10/2016 at 12:20pm

I’m not really confused, it was meant as sarcasm (hard to tell on the internet, I know)

But I still don’t think all these cameo’s belong in this place, because you automatically confirm that character is dead. Now the Zorak cameo isn’t really bugging me as much (he is a bug tho) as the previous ones tho. Tbh I would stick with SJ characters though.
