BeeAre: And now the time we’ve come to dread, for now the darkness dares to tread! Spooky! But hey, this is the Doctor X we all know and love. 8D …Oh, and a side note: sorry for the delays, but I am currently on a trip; seeing a friend a thousand miles away from my home! That kind of travel can take a lot out of you… but not enough to stop updating PpGD! …At least, you know, after some rest.¬†Phew.

Chemical X never had a good reaction to anything that wasn’t born with it (the puffs and ruffs.)

Dick Hardly found out the Hard way what happens to Humans that expose themselves to it.

Bullet (the squirrel) seemed to do OK.

On the other hand, the Pirates and the Gangreen Gang got off lightly (they were defeated, but they returned to normal.)

There would also be the question of Mojo Jojo himself. Technically, he WAS created by the Chemical X explosion (at least I assume that is how the explosion that created the girls caused his brain grow so much; he breathed in some vaporized Chemical X)

I’ve always thought that Chemical X had a degree of sentience, and acted based upon the intentions of the one using it. Utonium’s intentions were pure, so the result was the PPG. Mojo harboured feelings of rejection and they manifested by amplifying his physical state to a point at which he could act out that rage. Same with Dick – he was never wholesome. The alternate reality Powerpunks features the same equation but morally inverted.

If this Aku theory is in play, then it shows that X is a lifeform of sorts that may influence and nurture the strongest feelings it’s exposed to.

That’s one reason I like the theory so much, as it does open up some interesting ideas and possibilities.

That works as long as we assume the Chemical X works sort of like a symbiote, that is, that it remains sentient inside the individual and can continue to change them over time, rather than being simply absorbed. (If X and Aku are somehow intertwined this seems highly likely). After all, Mojo didn’t start feeling resentment UNTIL he was changed. As far as we know he held no ill feelings towards the Professor when he was just a monkey (of course, you could argue that at that point, Jojo wasn’t intelligent enough to feel much of ANYTHING). There would also be the issue of why pretty much all of the other monkeys Mojo “Mojified” in the Power Puff Girls Movie began to act JUST like him (if they have sentience, they presumably have free will). My best guess is that, being zoo animals, they were ALL unhappy (one wonders what would have happened had Mojo chosen monkeys from places where they were loved.)

Everyone creates the things they dread, Men of peace (Professer Utonium createing the PPG’s and X turning himself into a monster and Upgrading Sam) create engines of war, Invaders create Avengers (invaders being the Cluster/Darkstar Council/Black Eden and Avengers being the PPG’s), people create children to supplant them, to help them end (Professer X making Bell).

I’m getting a real Ultron vibe from this…

So, I’ve heard recently about this old fan theory that, given that Samurai Jack is supposedly a post-apocalyptic possible future of the Powerpuff Girls (given background clues of Townsville in early Jack episodes), the theory is that Chemical X is the remains of Aku after he was slain by Jack. It’s an interesting theory but not one I’ve really thought about until now regarding this comic. I don’t know, is anyone else getting a bit of an Aku vibe from Dr. X, especially his shadow?

I misread your comment at first and thought you were saying Aku was created FROM Chemical X. I had to reread it for it to make sense. That is an interesting theory.

Yeah, I think I first heard about it when I was looking into Chi from Grim Tales, where her wiki said she was called Aku Girl/Dark Blossom before she was given an actual name, so I wanted to see what connections there were between PPG and Samurai Jack. Turns out a lot of people on Deviantart ship Aku and Blossom together, though don’t ask me why. Though that does feed into my personal theory that Chi is some reincarnation of Blossom created by Aku, and it would make sense why he’d take an interest in her if the PPG were created by Chemical X.

Oh, okay, it’s just him turning into his final form.

I expected more. This is boring and has been boring for a while. I want more but I get nothing over such a long period of time. It’s disappointing.

Whatever X’s super power is, it ain’t people skills!

He could have just started with his arm and let Bell get use it but no he decides to go straight for the finisher. Which is even worst when you consider he told Sam to not pull her skin off again on the other page. Yes this is far less traumatizing for the child.

Wait a sec… is Bell a gyriod in this story? I know editors were tossed around for this comic but I assumed they still kept the Bell gyriod thing. But in the flashback she looks way younger than she looks now so does this mean shes a real ppg or is she the biological daughter of x and not a scientific creation? Because X has long white hair and looks exactly like an adult male version of Bell (before he became that orange monster guy). This is just going off Gridds B&W story he wrote some number of years ago because I know he was an editor for this comic for a while so idk if any of his ideas were still being used in the story, but seeing how Samantha took the place of whatever the black ppg gyriod’s name was (too lazy to look it up) from Gridds B&W story; I’d assume no, but still would like an answer.

No they didn’t use that. But I’m glad the whole “mutated by Chemical X” thing survived. Although I’d say something ELSE is going on here judging by all this evil energy.

      • 10/02/2016 at 9:54pm

        I figured.

        • 10/07/2016 at 1:20am

Yeah that adaption of Bell was pretty sick, it had a really Ex Machina vibe (before the sex robot stuff started happening), I also liked how you were leading Zim into a more spotlight position with him showing feelings toward Bell and paving a way for him to be a major character. I’m a huge fan of Invader Zim and really wanted that Zim comic Bleed was working on to succeed, but we all know how that went…but he could still possibly have a major role in this story (hopefully), although I doubt it since Zim doesn’t seem to matter to this story at all except for being an extra scientist underling for X and the Cluster.

Hmm, I’d expected something much more frightening after Samantha’s little demonstration in the last page…

  • 10/02/2016 at 9:21am

He said Chemical X fused with him mutates to this form? Like Professor Dick Hardly?

Chemical X is a fun double edge coin, it can make something great or something horrible depending on the person and their intentions.

judging from his shadow, I think it’should a safe bet that Chem X mutated him into Aku.
