Love the Medabots references. Some of the elite members of the Rubber Robo gang, the main villains in the series, turned out to be cybors with Medabot parts grafted to their bodies. The head honcho turned out to be a human with a Medabot brain, too.

GOD. I can’t believe this comic is still on going. I was just out of highschool when I first read it (it hadn’t had updates in a long time at that moment, so i thought it was dead) and now I’m almost out of college.
I’m very glad this continued. I’m going to get up to date with the rest of the comics now.

You aren’t missing much right now bud. The comic is in a boring af story arc right now. Why is Samantha even relevant to this story now that I’m thinking about it?

Maybe that’s why she hates everything.

      That’s actually a good theory!

Someone fill me in here. Are we still looking at Samantha’s backstory? What exactly is being depicted here other than just a gory scene?

    • athdlg

      06/25/2016 at 11:10am

We’re still looking at her past within Samantha’s death-memory-bubble-things that Grim is currently controlling. We’re trying to find something ‘important’ while at the same time seeing her connection with everything. It might take a while.

    • Lolwutpear_126

      06/25/2016 at 12:20pm

It’s just a gory scene. I understand what BeeAre was going for in this page, but it still is being depicted poorly.

      • BeeAre

        06/28/2016 at 6:29am

The scene’s level of gore is perhaps unnecessary, but the contrast between her sorta normal face and the robot she’s becoming is still potent and thematically relevant.

Additionally, well, I’d like to say that I can only apologize for not being able to convey my intent to Bleedman properly. I only wanted her to have robot parts in this scene, but the storyboarding sketch we worked through had no color, and her back was just uninjured underage skin, so I asked for “indications of metal protrusions” on the spine to make it less “loli-art”, you see. So I didn’t know about the skin around the spine nor the blood until we were putting in the dialogue, and I don’t want to constantly hassle Bleedman for significant art changes once he’s gotten most of said art finalized.

The page still works, even if it is treading towards a more extreme side of things relating to violence and gore specifically. *shrug* Again, I can only apologize. Sorry about that, Pear and Athdlg.

          06/28/2016 at 8:59am

          You bet your patooty.
I understand what you’re trying to say. The damage is done, if one could call it that. No use treading on it. Only the next page(s) will tell.
You seem kind of a push over at times, but at least you’re not harsh on Bleedman to do every single thing right–it would probably get a bit annoying.

    Wow I love this comic!

  • Lolwutpear_126

    06/24/2016 at 7:10pm

Hmm, they let her lie on an ordinary bed looking that way? Man, they’d better keep her in cryostasis or under anaesthetics… How can’t she be overwhelmed by the pain from her vertebrae basically poking out of her back? And why is her brain so exposed instead of it being covered by her skull? Meh. Another page for some shock effect just for the sake of it.

    • Santessen

      06/24/2016 at 11:59pm

Or why isn’t she at least bandaged up? I mean, I can sort of understand not stitching her up yet (she may still be in the process of construction, and they may need quick access) but she has exposed, oozing flesh; that has to be a serious infection risk.

    • 06/25/2016 at 1:27am

It was not for shock value but to show what has happened to her obviously. There wouldn’t be much to see if she is all stitched up, it wouldn’t be interesting. And if it had to be explained, let’s just say that there wasn’t enough human tissue to stitch her up completely. And as seen in the previous page… she kinda sleeps in a pod…

Reminds me of the Winter Soldier or Kai from Lexx.

        06/25/2016 at 12:18pm

You want a good scene like that which makes sense? Watch the intro of DEUX EX, there it’s done right. I can’t believe Samantha is allowed to just casually wake up in the middle of the process of still being re-constructed like that. It doesn’t make sense and the risk of infection at this stage must be lethal for her. Sleeping in a pod ain’t enough.

    • athdlg

      06/25/2016 at 2:41am

Gotta’ have that shock value to keep the readers interested.

    • silvercover

      06/26/2016 at 6:54am

I think only her brain is literally the only one intact and its contained in a container like how the Evil brain thing was. the rest are just machinery and some flesh/bone parts stuck together.

      • Santessen

        06/26/2016 at 12:58pm

Based on what bits of her we seen so far in the comic, I think we may have a sort of Terminator makeup here; a mechanical body (housing an organic brain in this case) with skin/bioflesh covering.

Though that does bring up an interesting question, is the red stuff actually blood or some sort of hydraulic fluid? If that assessment is correct (that she is all mechanical inside) she now has no bones and therefore no marrow. Even if she still does have some, we’ve been shown she is missing the bones* in those places where the greater amount of marrow is (the long bones of the arms and legs)** So unless she gets regular transfusions Sam doesn’t have all that much blood. And that seems to be borne out by what we have seen, she hasn’t actually bled all that much when injured (given it would chop open several major arteries, she should have spurted halfway across the room when she cut the flesh off her arm, not just drip a little. Her blood pressure would be fatally low for a normal human.)

        * Assuming her repairs are symmetrical. We know both arms are mechanical, and given bio mechanics so probably are both legs (the weight difference between a mechaical and non mechanical leg would make the kind of acrobatics Sam does difficult)

** You also get a fair bit from your ribs, but given she is built for combat, it seems unlikely those have not been reinforced as well.

  • 06/24/2016 at 9:21am

Do we want to know what happened to her?

I mean DAMN. I can only imagine how she’d react when gets a good look at her back.

    • silvercover

      06/24/2016 at 1:42pm

only if it will have something to do with how her character has changed so much from her original i.e. did it cause her to go vengeful due to her friends dying or something. otherwise if its just her along with random people who died to an explosion or medabot, its not that important.

I would like more to see how she turns into a psycho.

          Rather random to say that.
The English and Japanese names being both used is odd to me, is all.
          So odd, it’s funny.

          • red bear

            06/25/2016 at 3:33pm

Then you didn’t watch anime/play Japanese games/read manga/etc. enough. It’s not that uncommon.

          • athdlg

            06/25/2016 at 3:50pm

It seems you might have misunderstood.
Medobots is a childhood favorite of mine, even if it’s pretty ridiculous. I couldn’t watch the Japanese version, but I know of the different names used, at least.
Using both the Japanese and the English versions of the first name of a character within this comic, as if Kikuhime is her last name, seems extremely silly to me. That’s what I found funny.

  • 06/24/2016 at 4:59am

Creepy ass ending to another great page. Now I wanna see this “Incident” that took place. I keep getting this feeling that this brain in a jar type of deal is from somewhere I have seen…Eh, who knows. Anyways, good as always BeeAre and Bleed. KEEP IT UP!!!

        06/24/2016 at 7:06pm

No, that’s not it, but now I think it has something to do with Wolfenstein, the recent one. At the start of the game you choose which one of your friends gets their brains drilled out of their skull and placed into a jar. Now that was scary!!!!
