So, just to speculate, could it be that this page is building up to the fact that, maybe, when Minie gave Junior her right eye, she sealed all of her memories and good feelings she had for him, leaving all her deep, dark feelings in her left one, leading to now where she’s very antagonistic and barely restraints herself around her brother anymore? I know that this line of though opens up a lot of plotholes, like her being a pure child after dying or heavens taking a notice of her, but, if true, the reasoning for this could be that the feelings were really small, but after that’s all what she’s left with makes sense for her suden change of character.

I would like for Minnie and Jr. to not to fight so because for the sake to not get the home wrecked up.

It’s too late for that, Sockpuppet. Minnie already blew a big hole in the side of the castle and is also already fighting Junior’s nergal half. If Junior wants to keep his powers and protect Mimi, then he’ll have no other choice but to fight.

Minnie is a psycho, but Junior is also Mandy’s child. He also showed his “doesn’t mess around” attitude when Mandy went after Mimi. And only Mandy would be brave enough to take on Mandy, while only HIM is stupid enough to take on Mandy. Minnie goes after Mimi, then Junior starts knocking heads

    • Lolwutpear_126

      07/16/2017 at 9:18am

Exactly. So if Minnie supposedly inherited her evil nature from her mother, then why hasn’t Junior shown these traits just as well? The times we saw him angry he simply just got triggered by external factors and he was simply just being angry, not evil. I still think all of this is bullshit; Bleed and NEK are fucking up this comic so horribly badly that I’m afraid it’ll die soon.

      • Ryu_Kage_69

        07/16/2017 at 10:59am

You make a very fair point and I can see where your coming from. However, that being said, I can think of maybe a couple things may explain why Junior isn’t like Minnie or Mandy. External factors aside, it is entirely possible that Junior may have just inherited more internal traits of his “real” father than his mother. So when he didn’t show many if not any of his mothers traits at an early age, it is possible Mandy lost interest in trying to mold him like her which put her attention elsewhere, namely, Minnie. Lets not forget that early on, Minnie was a prodigy compared to her brother, which, if anything, would have peeked her interest all the more and pushed her to mold Minnie to be just like her. Also a couple of other things to remember, In the beginning Mandy herself said she hated kids. That kind of thing doesn’t go away after one pregnancy, or in her case, abortion. Let alone overnight. The second thing is, Mandy plans every thing from the worst possible failure to the best possible outcome. So she knows when to cut her losses, all be it begrudgingly, but she knows.
Now adding in external factors, which is a short list, Junior was the first born after all. He may have been doted on by his father (Grim) more than his mother Mandy. Coupling that with the fact that Mandy hating kids, Grim’s doting, and showing more traits of Junior’s “real” father, it is entirely possible that Junior wouldn’t show much of the traits Minnie or Mandy is showing, if any at all. So think they are doing just fine when you really take the time to think about all these factors.
Honestly, if I had One gripe about this comic, its that i wish they would upload in chapters rather than pages. Sure we would have to wait a bit longer for uploads, but i think it would be more fulfilling in chapters than in pages and give us more time to take things in, more time for them to plan things out, and more, and more reason for us to wait to find out what happens next.

Would be great if by next chapter Junior takes after his father whoever that would be an revealed next chapter. Would be great that comes with a new power. Perhaps an Angel if that is even possible or a main character from past Cartoon Network shows, it would be funny and cool if it was somehow Ben Tennyson since Mandy does have his watch in her vault.

I’ve missed Junior looking human, nice to see him like that again. I wonder now if the Nergaling inherited Minnie’s love for Jr. or developed one of its own. Both options are possible. Jr., after he got rid of his petty jealousy, turned out to be an actual sweetheart, who’s getting strong and responsible, not a crybaby he was before. Talking about genetics and inherited nature, there is some of Mandy in him, but his core personality (and his looks) has to come from his biological father. I’m curious why Grim doesn’t want to talk about him.

  • Lolwutpear_126

    07/15/2017 at 4:19am

Bound by our parents’ blood and nature? Such bullshit. Evilness CAN’T be inherited. It’s not genetic. If it were, then that would mean that if someone’s father were a criminal, the child would inherently risk becoming a criminal too just because of inherited genes alone. Minnie is behaving like she is because of repressed feelings and frustrations, NOT because of Mandy’s genes (“bear her nature through her nurture…”, pfft, please!). If this comic’s really gonna pull such bullshit, then yes, Minnie’s character’s lost to the wolves.

      07/15/2017 at 4:53am

https://www.elementsbehavioralhealth.com/addiction-resources/alcoholism-facts/alcoholism-genetic-causes-alcohol-addiction/ to be fair our genetic makeup does give a skeletal structure of who we could be growing up, a lot of factors play in when we talk about nature and nurture. but as far as i see it this is not “inherit evilness” but more like vindictive nature. she wants to prove “if i win that means im strong enough to do what i want with you” basically asserting her physical dominance which again is a primitive display of dominance in the animal kingdom. hell if you really want to dig around a little more lying and deception is a primitive survival tool that exist not only in animals but even in plants too.

      tl:dr give nature/nurture SOME credit

      • Grids

        07/15/2017 at 12:11pm

Alcoholism is a disorder that chemically rewired the body into a forced dependency on booze in order for it to feel “normal”. An evil personality, regardless of the charisma behind it, cannot affect a person to such a degree. I’m amused that this page is pointing out how much Mandy – who doesn’t interact with her daughter besides plot reasons and training – somehow passed on an effect like this but Helga and her teachings, which Junior made a point of back a the start of the comic, can be dropped without a second thought despite them being far more integral to Minnie’s upbringing.

        • gekomaria

          07/15/2017 at 5:19pm

you could also argue cold logic could easily fail to consider human factors such as culture, language, social dynamics, personality and emotion, thus why she is completely unempathetic to juniors situation whos is more emotional rather then logical

          • Lolwutpear_126

            07/16/2017 at 9:24am

Well, if Minnie inherited her mother’s evil nature, then why hasn’t Junior shown any signs of being evil himself? Afterall, he’s Mandy’s child too. Also, a father being addicted to drugs or alcohol doesn’t mean his son will become an addict himself. Such addictions have more to do with external factors such as upbringing (a bad upbringing could lead the son to drink as well) or mental issues (stress or personal feelings of failure could lead to alcoholism). For the exact same money, the son learns to despise alcohol through the bad behaviour and possible violence it causes in his father. If Mandy were to be established as a psychopath by the original The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy cartoon, I could see it leaving its traces also in Minnie, as such mental disorders do have a chance to be inherited, but the show merely depicted Mandy as being essentially evil all in herself (it’s basically the essence of her character), and THAT is, as far as I know, not inheritable. Otherwise we’d see many more whole families of criminals in prison in real life, which we don’t. I’m simply NOT buying this retcon Minnie is going through. It just doesn’t make sense, and it completely destroys her personality as it was established in earlier chapters.

      07/16/2017 at 9:58pm

A zombie girl using a mechanised exo suit is fighting her half brother, a skeleton boy cloaked in a shapeshifting organic sentient demon matter he gained when his half sister offered him her right eye, but your question is how Mandy’s corrupt nature was somehow passed on?

That aside, you see quite a few of Minnie’s interactions with her mother. That time she shot Mimi and jr down then chastised Min. You realize that Mandy has been using Mimi as a means of inciting Minnie right? Obviously they didn’t go into details on the early mother-daughter bonding, but Minnie only spent most of her time with Helga. No way Mandy wasn’t balancing her out alongside Nergal jr.

    • TotallyNotJR

      07/17/2017 at 9:39am

Have to disagree there. It does fit the narrative. Bound by parent’s blood/nature “in some form.” The quote is important.

We don’t know(?) who Minnie’s dad is (or at least I missed that chapter). For example, Superman’s children in all versions of the comic inherited his “blood” and abilities. Similarly, in DBZ, all half-saiyans inherit the potential to go Super Saiyan. It simply fits the narrative of the universe the comic is in. Genetics are similar. You have 2 parents who are world class athletes, there is a chance any positive genes that allow them to BE world class athletes can get passed to the children.

As far as “nature”, we know Mandy acts/is evil at least as far as the comics portray her. She tries to make Minnie act like her (bear her nature through nurture) by teaching her HOW to be evil. Nothing in the narrative implies Minnie is evil because Mandy is evil.

That’s how I see the narrative going for. I don’t see it as the children automatically inheriting “evil”.

mmm it’s nice seeing Junior with skin again it’s veen too long. Don’t really like the female nurse nergal thing it just feels… inappropriate I’d say. Don’t really care about if Minnie’s nice personality was a act or not but I wish she’d go back to it. Also everybody is making a fuss about the bitch not holding back but no one seems to care that nergal is going all out to. Oh well whatever, can’t wait for the convenient and idiotic way Minnie wins this fight to be revealed

Look, I tend to defend this comic a lot, but I’m certainly hoping that this page is not implying or stating that the Minnie we’ve known up until Mimi moved into the castle was all just an act. I don’t mind Minnie acting more like her mother because of her anger or acting like her mother because she’s letting more of her darker, repressed feelings out. But saying Minnie’s kindness and more sweet nature was all just a hoax not only opens up a lot of plot holes, but it also really hurts her own character as well.

Having her be a sweet and kind girl who is now giving in to her inner darkness because she feel abandoned and betrayed by the one she loves is interesting and complex. Having all that came before just being declared as an act and that she’s just always been like this takes away any sympathy the audience has for her character and gives us no reason to care about her. So I’m hoping that maybe I’m just reading this page wrong and misunderstanding its meaning. Because this kind of retcon rarely ever works out in any comic.

      07/15/2017 at 7:56am

^ This is the comment I wanted to write, but written better.

If it’s all been an act, it opens so many plot holes. An act so damn good it convinces heaven? I mean, I know this world’s “good side” mostly lost and all, but that’s still some weak ass detection for evil that half of hell should probably be up there in heaven. Why did she sacrifice herself to save Junior in the first place? And maybe she first gave Junior the eye to save his life, but if her sole purpose was power, why exactly did she not kidnap and tie up Junior first thing after to attempt to get the eye back?

This page is basically telling readers “look, we know there was all this character growth, but it wasn’t ACTUALLY growth, see, you were lied to, you just saw the character wrong!” Bye bye character growth, have someone new in place instead.

Not sure if I even want to mention the random feminization of random objects anymore.

    • fefuentes2000

      07/15/2017 at 9:23am

I understand what you are saying, having her gentle behavior being just an act is just a bad narrative.
I believe that this page is to show what Jr thinks towards his sister’s new behavior, maybe her kind side will show again in the future.
I expect Minnie falling deep into the darkness, maybe kill Jr or something similar, then she snaps out of it and sacrifice herself to the upper good, a little cliche. I would prefer this sadistic side of her to be just a cover to her feelings, and that when she is alone she would be just like Olga.

Yes he was. Never managed to get around to completely finalising it, but he essentially crossed paths with the newly-married Queen of the Underworld (perhaps as a result of her time as a supernatural assassin) and one thing led to another. She couldn’t be worse than Vicky, right?

Or perhaps there was a bad wish behind it all that dropped him in her lap.

Ditching her after announcing her pregnancy, Grim gets furious at his abandoning of his wife especially as he attends to Death Duties in the mortal world – this is around the time Him began to carve up the heroes, leading to Mimi – and as such he shapes the child into his own image, which Mandy approves of. But the anti-Fairy leader Anti-Cosmo, aware of the true father, offers to represent as a godparent because no stupid bake-off will stop him from establishing ties with the Royal Family of Death.

Grim cares about his wife, despite her nature and personality. He admires, respects and fears her. When Timmy wishes himself out of Mandy’s life, Grim sees him as someone TRULY spineless. So he shaped the child into Grim Junior in order to further his legacy.

And LEGACY was the theme I was going for in GT before it all went kaput.

I can’t believe I didn’t see this comment before but this is a very interesting way for the story to have gone. I have my own fanfiction story that’s going on right now about a Junior’s father plot, though I can’t honestly say that the idea is anything as good as this. Despite being called “Grim Tales: Complex”, the reason I’ll have for Grim hating Junior’s father is nowhere near as deep as this one is.

Hating Timmy because he wished himself out of Mandy’s life and basically abandoned his own child is a way more interesting motivation for Grim than any theory out there that I’ve seen. I give you major praise for the idea, Grids.

I get what you’re saying but I don’t really see it like that. I think that she is both sweet and kind and a mini Mandy. I think she wanted to be the sweet kind girl and that she fought that darkness for a long time but now she has snapped. I think she has always had and will always have both those sides and it would be interesting to see her and Jnr having to come to terms with that.

  • 07/14/2017 at 5:14pm

Now, I feel a little conflicted. On one hand, Minnie has stepped up and become a better character but on the other hand, I don’t want to see a second Mandy. I’m also curious to how Jr’s Nergaling(N) identities gender-wise now.

    • 07/14/2017 at 8:35pm

Maybe Junior’s Nergaling self-identifies as Hermaphroditic? That WOULD explain the big burly men in riot gear… AND the boobs… Huh. Who would’ve thought I’d ever use “riot gear” and “boobs” in the same sentence.

      • Aros001

        07/14/2017 at 8:59pm

Well, remember, the Nergaling did originally come from Minnie, who is a girl, and been attached to Junior for a while, who is a boy, so it could easily have the mental image of being both boy and girl. And when you’re a shape-shifter, mental image does mean a lot.

        • 07/15/2017 at 5:23pm

Well that explains that but now I’m curious to how Jr feels about this current situation? Conflicted yes but still.

      • 07/15/2017 at 5:25pm

Well, I never thought those words would be in a sentence unless it involves a female SWAT team memeber and the hermaphroditic thing makes sense.

            07/18/2017 at 12:52am

I have to disagree with the prospect of Timmy Turner being Junior’s biological father. Everyone says that it’s because “their hair is similar.” I say that in this case, the hair would have been the second most obvious piece of genetic inheritance from Timmy. If Junior WAS Timmy’s son, there would also be a chance that Junior would have genetically inherited Timmy’s buck teeth.

Are you fucking serious right now? His dad was never revealed, plus when it comes to Timmy Turner, he wouldn’t even be into Mandy and she wouldn’t be into him. For all we know, Junior’s dad could be some OC Bleedman might have or will make. Plus in my opinion, that nobody asked for but will get anyways, I don’t think Bleedman and NEK even made Junior a father. They probably didn’t care at the time of making this comic, and I’m sure that still isn’t the case now.

        • Aros001

          07/18/2017 at 1:36pm

It was Bleedman and Grids who made the comic originally and according to Grids there was a plan for who Junior’s biological father was, though since he’s no longer the Grim Tales writer he doesn’t know if Bleedman will still use that original idea.

            07/19/2017 at 11:58am

This is probably just nostalgia but I’d still argue that Vicky is a worse person than Mandy. Mandy is rarely ever cruel without reason (save towards Grim in the early days) and is more evil than Vicky, but in the same way Doctor Doom or Lex Luthor is. She knows she’s better than everyone and thus does what she does to gain and keep hold of the power she knows she deserves. Vicky tends to think only of money and the amusement she gets out of making other people miserable. Mandy gets amusement out of punishing people too, but most of the time others are just beneath her notice. They are not worth her time.
