All you sinners stand up, sing Hallelujah! We’re out of the bar and finally getting to see the Council Meeting!!!

Isn’t Chi supposed to be in a hurry to save her ‘beloved’ Mimi?
Like wasn’t she in a hurry since… several pages ago?
But now she’s stopping to flirt and spend time with someone who just /looks/ like Mimi (Putting aside Jewel’s origin.)
Man. I don’t even have to talk about how ChixMimi is a awful shoehorned ship! Bleed and NEK are doing it for me!

Welp, 3 days and 34 pages worth of panels later and I am finally caught up to the story, and I have to say, loving it so far, can’t wait for the next panel.

How she truly feels in her relationship, with her tears.

Hmm, Chi is, well basically the princess morbucks in the story, if morbucks was into girls. It bothers me, that Chi doesn’t know Mimi all that well. I doubt she knows what the chakra gem represents, and was surprised that Mimi’s mother was a hero. A thought keeps returning to me, you can’t love what you don’t know.
Chi is what, eleven. I know that she is more mature, because she raised in a corrupted society, but still I wish she was a little bit innocent. Like basically, I wish bleedman would Chi character. I want to see Chi slowly maturing, building her character, to represent more than just a love crazed girl. I want to know her fears, her desires, maybe her outward behavior is a mask, hiding her true character. I want to see her grow, mature into a better character.

      09/23/2016 at 2:52am

So basically, you want Chi to have some character development?
      Same. :>

ALRIGHT! We’re moving out of the transition parts of the story. Like I’ve said before, Chi isn’t a bad character but she hasn’t be given any chances to interact with any of the other main characters yet, save for her father, HIM (for a few panels), and Mimi (in flashback pages). Thus for a while it’s just been Chi carrying the story by herself while interacting with some new and minor characters. This council though, we’ll have Mandy, Grim, HIM, and Aku all in the same place. That’s four different main characters that get to work off each other, plus the other lords like Hunson and Walker. I’m really looking forward to this. Plus once things are done here and we cut back to the bar, some things will have progressed a bit with Chi and her part in the story will hopefully be a bit further along or move faster than before.

On another note, I love the design of the Cthulhu Palace. Like people before me have pointed out it has some elements of Brainiac and the celestial head from Guardians of the Galaxy but with a good number of original touches thrown in as well.

The only thing about that whole bar scene that really annoys me is that Chi seems to have moved on from Mimi and she’s only just begun to look for her.
(Also, this page shows that when we finally come back to Chi, SHE’LL STILL BE AT THE BAR!)

    • Grids

      09/21/2016 at 10:26pm

The bar scene only managed to introduce characters who had no real impact (Ben10 dudes who were merely the target of pop culture gags and this Walker dude who turned up, gawked at everyone and left again) and undermine Chi’s whole reason for embarking on her quest

She was supposed to have a genuine attachment to Mimi and thus put everything on the line for her. Instead now she’s hitting on some random girl who has only a slight passing resemblance to Mimi and seems more than happy to delay her plans while she flirts. It’s very confusing – if she’s a horny little lezzie and nothing more why is she doing any of this?

      • Santessen

        09/22/2016 at 12:59pm

The only way I can reconcile this is to assume that maybe I was RIGHT about the underworld being more tolerant/ understanding of polygamy/harems. In that case, Chi may have decided that the only thing better than having Mimi would be to have TWO Mimi’s, so to speak. Jewel does have a few advantages on Mimi. For one thing, she can actually talk, which Chi might be missing in her lover, and is a lot more submissive which again Chi might find attractive.

We know Chi has the severe hots for Mimi, but it still does not seem clear WHY she does (unless the thing with Skulker really happened). And just because Chi loves Mimi madly doesn’t necessarily mean she finds EVERYTHING about her perfect. She may want more.

If she thinks that way, then maybe she wants both of them LITERALLY, and is playing up the sexiness in the hope that she can get Jewel to come with her now, rather than have to bother with coming back and fetching her later.

This also brings up a question that I suppose will be answered as the comic progresses; what exactly does Chi plan to DO with Mimi when she rescues her. She can’t just show up back at her home in Hell. Someone, somehow would find out about what Chi did. And the fact that, from Chi’s point of view, Him has been more or less content to leave Mimi at Grimskull might lead her to decide that Mimi is no longer safe with her “father”. So what is Chi going to do? Hide Mimi in her chambers forever, and hope the maids never find out? Set her up in a little shack nearby where she can visit?

Actually that could lead back to this again. If this place is not merely a bar but an inn (that is it has rooms for rent up above) Then Chi could be planning to put Mimi up HERE after she rescues her.

          09/22/2016 at 1:47pm

Chi is a totally spoilt brat. If she wanted a cheap harem maiden she could use her power and status to get herself any piece of tail in the nine circles of hell. She’s going after Mimi and defying her dad because Mimi is something unique to her on a deeper level. To see her flirting with this knockoff character is showing pure disregard for plot consistency.

            09/22/2016 at 9:48pm

I’m starting to think Chi’s nothing more than a horny spoiled lesbian attentionwhore. The fact of people here talking about Jewel as some piece of jewelry (l0l) that Chi has to ‘come fetch later’ also really devalues Jewel as a character herself. I hate how women get such misogynist treatment in Bleed’s comics at times.

    09/21/2016 at 4:20pm

The body poses and even Chi’s eye flames are recycled for three of those four panels.
So what was gained in the past 12 pages and 4 and a half months?

    • Lolwutpear_126

      09/21/2016 at 4:22pm

A very good question to which we’ll probably never get an answer.

    • Xedusk

      09/21/2016 at 6:50pm

I’m assuming it was just to introduce Rook, Kevin, and Walker and they’re connections to Chi.

      • Grids

        09/21/2016 at 10:23pm

Connections huh? Which now mean what? We left the bar with absolutely no resolution to anything. I know readers wanted out of there real bad but the whole idea of making a story is to tie up ends and give meaning to what is presented.
We could honestly have gone from that junior/minnie malarchy straight to this and not lost anything relevant to the plot.

  • Lolwutpear_126

    09/21/2016 at 10:11am

Half of this page was wasted on Chi wanting Jewel’s face in her crotch. Worst transition to another place I’ve seen happen in a comic. But yes, we’re FINALLY out of that damn bar. I’m actually surprised we won’t see Chi getting laid.

Feels like a ripoff of that place in Guardians of the Galaxy to me. But yeah, the train’s got a Cthulu theme to it, too.

        09/21/2016 at 5:00pm

Sorry, but DC with their Brainiak’s constructs/bases/ships/whatever were there wa-a-ay before that utterly secondary movie.

            09/22/2016 at 4:20am

Maybe, but I think it has enough of its own unique elements added to make it its own thing.

          • red bear

            09/22/2016 at 12:51pm

@Grids, said reference actually going even further in time – to H.G. Wells and his octopus-like Martians in their battle tripods, nothing new on that dusty old globe.

            09/22/2016 at 1:44pm

Lovecraft, Wells, DC, Marvel, whatever it is it completely defies the thing about the ghost zone.
This place looks more like how aspects of the realms were presented back in Chi’s debut. Now, obviously all the realms aren’t just floating islands in a void but it seems to disregard the concept of barriers and the sense of realms being like sand which layers

  • menamai

    09/21/2016 at 6:54am

Sooo… Is Jewel pretending not to know Chi or what? Still can’t figure out her role in all this. I love Demo and Chi’s dynamics, their banter is cute. And Yay!!! Finally we’re getting to some interesting place.

    • Aros001

      09/22/2016 at 4:17am

Hard to say, given that we don’t know if she is still Junior and Mimi’s daughter in this continuity. Until we get an explanation I’m just going to assume she’s from the future.

      • Grids

        09/22/2016 at 1:42pm

Or she could merely be the barman’s daughter and serve no purpose other than to distract and devalue Chi’s mission.

      • Santessen

        09/21/2016 at 8:55pm

I imagine so. Not a bad pun, especially when you know almost the same thing happened in real life. “Big Jim” Hogg, the Governor of Texas is famous for having named his daughter “Ima”. (People could be odd like that back then, in the 19th century one of the biggest shipping merchants and bank mangers in New York city was a man named Preserved Fish [of the Hamilton-Fishes])

I also left you a (quite simple) reply on the last SB page.
