Well, analyzation is just me. I like analyzing stories I read and seeing them as potentially fully functioning worlds instead of just stories. You may not see things that way, but I like to.
I keep my idea that Gug might like Aria, but I see your point about the blush, it could be another emotion, I’ve seen things like that too.
I see Gug not really as a freeloader, but a somewhat childish shut-in, seeing as he never seems to leave the house except on Halloween and secretly in a bag. That’s how his situation came off to me, anyway.
Gug seems to be an avid gamer (“They have all the latest games!” like he keeps up with that stuff), as well as watching too much tv, and might not have a life out of doors. Those tentacled monsters are not a welcome sight, so he might be taking refuge in Aria’s house, she hides him so he won’t be discovered and destroyed.
Another tentacled creature came by to play D&D with him, but I wonder if that’s a rare occurrence, maybe he doesn’t get to see others of his kind that often… That’s going off into just speculation, but its something I’m wondering about. I realize I’m going off into my own mind, I’ll wrap it up ; b
Again, analyzing stories and treating them as worlds is something I do, it’s just me, so don’t try to tell me not to do it. ^__^ I know I’m not the author either, I could be totally wrong, but I like to think about it anyway. I like to think. And maybe I’ll have an insight that someone will totally love. : ) Ignore me if you want.
I wonder if R. Merryweather ever talks to his fans… It would be great if he could confirm or deny this stuff.
On Bleedman: I caught a few lines of comments on the last Grim Tales page, and I thought maybe Grim hasn’t explained how he was created yet, he might not have come out of his mom. Maybe just that they in an alternate way brought him into the world, instead of being the product of two Reapers making love. We could see that in the next few updates; Bleedman’s writing the story *with* Nek now, I don’t think he would dump a huge and important chunk of his story right on it’s ass like that. The whole Mandy screws other men to get children because death can’t make life. That part. I don’t know all of what happened in there, that’s just what I picked up.
Thanks for the (sort of) welcome back anyway. ^_^

I don’t think Red Bear was trying to tell you not to analyze, Kirie, just that you’re analyzing something that belongs to a fixed trope as well as jokes that aren’t actually deep, as that’s not they’re point.

In fact, I kind of understand your case, as I over-analyze things as well – heck, part of my English comes from the fact that I thought about all the lines of the cartoons I watched and didn’t understand at first, due to not being an English native – but it’s lie trying to give deepness to the relationship of Tom & Jerry the same way you’d analyze the relationship of, say, Batman and The Joker from DCComics. It’s just not the same trope, and you’re not going to find the same deep meanings in the former compared to the latter.

Anywhozies! I’ve added my two cents here, I hope you don’t mind. No hostility or anything. Ba-bai~

@Glyphayel, thanks, you explained it all better than I could do myself. (Not native speaker either, I learned English from rock/metal songs, comics and subtitles to anime.)
      @Kirie, exactly what Glyphayel said.

@Red Bear Ya welcome, m’dear! Glad to know us non-native english got into the language mostly ’cause it seemed fun to us, rather than bein’ forced to. And no worries, I don’t mind helpin’ :3

I think Gug kinda likes Aria, and is a little attracted to her. \:3 The blush he had when he offered to give her a massage, he keeps trying to make her wear sexy, revealing clothing, his avatar in the video game was a hot guy; that said something to me…
It makes me wonder if those tentacled creatures can actually breed outside their species… If its possible for Gug to be attracted to a human at all, would that mean there is some kind of connection, psychologically to biology, in him? I’m not trying to be gross, I’m just thinking of Gug as one would study an animal in the wild.
On another note, the tentacled creatures seem to be a cultural icon in this world the comic shows. There’s a billboard advertising Tentacle O’s, a bag of Tenta Chips on the floor of the D&D game… Even if people are afraid of them themselves, they’re still a welcome part of culture, like if human-hunting vampires were real. : )
And if you’re wondering, no, I’m not quite back yet, I’m just hanging out in Crawling City now. I’m still too sensitive to handle all the Bleeman hate. : P Maybe this comic’s commenters will be kinder. : )

I think you’re thinking too much. Yes, we still hasn’t anything confirmed by the Word of God, but as far as I see – hardly. Gug “attracted” to Aria and “likes” her only as a freeloader to an owner of the house. That’s, as far as I understand, is one of the points – it’s not your typical sweet story about two friendly… persons living together. It’s about one… kind of sweet but quite practical girl and one quite selfish monster. That blush is something more of “I’ve brewed a very devious plan and right now sooo proud of myself”. Yes, it’s from excitement – but not THAT kind of excitement.
Again, you think about quite unnecessary things. The one of the selling points of this comix is that it does NOT making your standard “tentacle jokes”. Moreover – it does NOT playing on eroticism and/or sexuality either. Everything even remotely near that dreadful “fanservice” zone done VERY subtle.
Aaand… yes, again, too much thinking, sorry. Don’t try to give a Very Deep Meaning to every and any author’s jokes. It’s just done to help you feel semi-Lovecraftian atmosphere.
But, of course, I’m not the author and easily can be wrong, so any part or even everything I said can be debunked by the Word of God in next update.
P.S. I wish I could say “welcome back” (even if don’t know you) but sadly after recent Grim Tales update, when even I myself, who always trying to take a reasonable ground, being neither blind fan nor hater – even I said “it looks like Bleedman either don’t care about his own story or just trolling his fans”, so yeah, there are still many… harsh critics out there.
