An original and clearly adult female character appearing in a comic is a welcome change.

At least I’m under the impression she’s original.

For what it’s worth, the joke was pretty funny. After a while though, Griddles has been tossed around in the court of public opinion for years. I know he’s an easy target and all, but I don’t know. Seemed like you initially said “At first I agreed with you, then I realized you were someone I didn’t like so now I suddenly don’t agree anymore.” Once again for what it’s worth, Griddles is probably aware of the irony of his post. Doesn’t make him any less right, does it? :0

            03/24/2016 at 7:59pm

I can’t believe he’s still around, to be honest. He should be someplace the sun never shines.

          • 03/24/2016 at 8:52pm

Well, he is still around regardless, but what he’s done, or been convicted of doing, admitted to doing, and things that have been said about him that he hasn’t actually done as well as the things he “has” done and have apologized for are very tiring to go on about. You don’t even “know” the guy. He’s done nothing to you as far as I know. In my opinion, if you just put the hate down for a minute and try to know your “enemy” you might find that they’re not such bad people. This stuff has been around for over half a decade, nothing is going to be proven here in a random corner of the internet over a thousand days later. Before you go on a tirade about what you think you know about him, or what he’s done, let it always be known that if you limit yourself to one side of a discussion, no matter how minor or major, you’re never getting the full picture. I respect your opinion of him, and of what you “assume” he stands for, because of what you think he stands for is a terrible thing, but I cannot respect baseless hate. At least attempt to get a grander grasp of the situation before completely abandoning him as a person to do nothing but shitpost, or as you suggested, “Put him someplace the sun never shines.” Just think about it.

          • Lolwutpear_126

            03/26/2016 at 12:02am

Why are you defending him? Just wait until you got kids yourself. Might change your view on life.

          • 03/26/2016 at 3:30pm

Maybe. But until then, he’s good at holding a conversation, more or less understanding and empathetic to others’ points of view (Sometimes) and generally heralded GT during its golden age when everyone loved it. Whatever he may or may not have done has nothing to do with me, you, or the comics he works on. If you want to run him out of town with torches and pitchforks without even getting to know the guy, ya might as well be running a witch hunt, seeing as how all of your information came second hand instead of from the horse’s mouth. As for why I’m “defending” him, it’s as simple as me thinking he’s an okay guy who fell into a very bad situation and made no less than 1 very bad choice in his life. I’d rather have him writing GT than Nek at the very least. But, as I said, talking about this gets very tiring after a while. If, by some crazy chance you want to talk about this in depth without any bias from me, look me up on skype if you’re so inclined. Or not, either way I think we’ve both said what we want to say.

            03/26/2016 at 3:44pm

We’ll have to agree to disagree then. I hold quite some strong principles. You apparently don’t. Suit yourself. Oh, and I don’t talk to strangers on Skype, so no thanks.

          • 03/26/2016 at 5:04pm

I have principals too, but they are mostly about forgiveness and the ability to move on from one’s past mistakes. We don’t all share the same morals, however. You hold onto your faith, and I mine.

Looks like the possible mother of Dib and Gaz.

If you don’t believe the clone theory that is.

    • Santessen

      03/23/2016 at 9:31am

Well, I seem to recall the clone theory as being stated as unused canon by Jhonen himself, so to go against it is to go against the original creator (unless you want to take the view that, as the comic has long since deviated from the original show whose characters it uses, it is no longer obligated to pretend that anything from the original show is canonical.)

      The editor isn’t the greatest.

      • 03/23/2016 at 7:07pm

From what I hear from Bleedman’s many bumbles, all spelling errors that are drawn and typed into the comic itself is the fault of Bleedman. Beeare himself has gone on record to say that Bleedman has fumbled more than his fair share of jokes by spelling shit incorrectly. The problem is that Bleedman rarely proofreads his own shit before hosting.

        • Lolwutpear_126

          03/24/2016 at 11:34am

And that’s why you need a good editor/proofreader. That’s why you need people with actual skills and the will to actually work on a quality product. And that’s why Bleed’s comics will always stay in a dark and unnoticable corner of the internet.

          • athdlg

            03/24/2016 at 12:27pm

I assume he’s joking that a lot of people stay in dark, unnoticeable corners on the internet.

Wow. I’m pretty taken aback by this, never would I have thought I’d see any type of interpretation of Membrane’s spouse.

  • Plasman

    03/23/2016 at 11:51am

This doesn’t necessarily mean that this is his wife/mother of his kids. It could be a date of sorts, but again, we are bouncing from situation to situation so everything is making no sense…..//

    • athdlg

      03/23/2016 at 6:31pm

It’s nice to speculate about what’s happening in the comic, especially since it’s not updated in a while. People do it all the time here and the majority can understand that it’s speculation rather than their guess being the right answer.
Here, I’m going by context clues. The use of honey and dear and when the female scientist (I assume scientist) is mentioning a “HOME made apple pie”, it can be somewhat safe to say, for now, that their relationship is marriage.

      • Lolwutpear_126

        03/24/2016 at 11:35am

I think the use of ‘honey’ and ‘dear’ are quite clear and obvious clues as to what kind of relationship they have. I mean, I don’t think many people would immediately start addressing some stranger with ‘honey’ the first time they see or meet them.

      • System Down

        03/24/2016 at 6:29pm

I would suggest that the emphasis placed on the word home may indicate a code/passphrase of some sort, with the current direction the comic seems to be taking a society of scientists does not seem to be the most farfetched idea.

Hmm, a fairly ok page. Maybe there’s still hope for this comic afterall.

    • 03/23/2016 at 7:26pm

I strangely agree with you. Not that it’s strange to agree with you, we actually agree more often than not, but strange because I originally thought this comic was completely fucked a while ago. Now it seems to be one of the better paced comics. It certainly seems to be building towards something.

      • Lolwutpear_126

        03/24/2016 at 11:38am

Glad we agree on this. I admit that it’s mainly my lack of knowledge on the actual Invader ZIM series which is keeping me from getting really interested in this comic. I’ve never seen the show, as it never aired in my country. But if the story keeps on being coherent like this, I might actually start following it more actively.

        • 03/24/2016 at 8:54pm

I’m not incredibly fluent in Zim lore (if you can call it that) myself, which is a good omen, because if I can like the comic without watching the show, that just means the comic is doing well.

I’m gonna call it right here and now, SHE’S AN ALIEN!!!!

    • Kirie

      03/24/2016 at 7:25am

I also think its Miyuki in disguise 🙂

  • athdlg

    03/23/2016 at 8:19pm

Hmm….I’ll say that she’s Miyuki in disguise, for now. She’s quite random, and the talk about the tallest Miyuki right before her appearance is a bit suspicious. Unless they’re going to go with the episode that wasn’t finished where it showed Miyuki’s death.

For the record, she reminds me of Phoebe Heyerdahl from Hey Arnold XD

  • BettyBeehive

    03/24/2016 at 8:50am

Im gonna call it right now.

This is Tallest Miyuki disguised as a human.

Jumping for bonus points, she is also the mother and that’d make the kids half irken and it would explain her absence.

  • Santessen

    03/24/2016 at 10:48am

I can sort of see BOTH. There is something rather Phoebe like in this character such as the odd almost angled eyeglasses and the color scheme (black hair, dressed mostly in blue). And it’s not like HA characters don’t exist in other bleed comics (Helga is/was Grim and Minnie’s governess, if I recall). But there is a bit of Miyuki there too (at least, going by the sketch that is all of the official art of Miyuki we have)

I really wish we could see her hands, that might give a clue. Unless Miyuki was so committed to her disguise she was willing to amputate the ends of her fingers, I can’t see them fitting in human disguise hands (she might be, I mean unlike Red and Purple, she was apparently committed enough to amputate her thumbs as per Tallest custom)*

Also the fact that she DOESN’T have thumbs should be a bit of an impediment since it would probably mean the disguise thumbs wouldn’t work properly which would be a hindrance in a scientist/doctor disguise (or indeed any persona where she’d have to use her hands a lot)

*I’m assuming that the tendril fingers Tallests have ARE their actual fingers as opposed to prostheses manipulated by their real fingers inside of the gautlets.

    • nicokokun

      03/24/2016 at 12:24pm

Or maybe Miyuki was already in earth years before Dib and Tak were born! Maybe she disguised herself as a smart asian(I think) student in P.S. 118 Elementary School.

Hear me out… Phoebe is too smart for a 4th grader. She sometimes doesn’t know how to interact with anyone except for Helga. Most of all, she has access to tools that she shouldn’t be allowed to use.

    • Ether101

      03/24/2016 at 12:29pm

The bodies of the Tallest are implied to be fake and it was confirmed that one of the planed episodes was going to revolve around it. None of that matters if Miyuki become human like Tak has.

When’s Grim Tales going to be updated?

  • Havoc

    03/25/2016 at 3:18am

While that woman looks like she could be the mother of Dib and Gaz (kind of looks like them a bit), I sort of doubt that. Also I’m not all to keen on the canon surrounding the issue. Someone said something about clones? If anyone’s got an Invader Zim Wikia link regarding that matter, that would be cool. I’m more inclined to believe what others have said about this being an alien using the same tech as Tak.

    • Ether101

      03/25/2016 at 7:09am

Its never stated thou it was planed that Dib was created in lab.

    03/25/2016 at 10:15am

If this is Miyuki in disguise I will be… Actually pleasantly surprised. The fact that the leader of otherwise aggresive and arrogant aliens had children with human seems… rather sweet and and awesome.

  • 03/25/2016 at 7:52pm

A little off-topic, but I’ve always been curious why scientists who are never home would even want to have children. Or at the very least, hire a nanny or babysitter of some sort.
